As promised Declan drove us back to Chipshop at 8am so we could continue our walk.

We walked to Tavistock via Ottery where Simon Matthews, asked us about our walk. He wished us well and gave us a donation – thanks Simon.

Followed quiet country lanes not much traffic and arrived in Tavistock about 10. Called into a Spar shop where we bought some phone top-up. We also collected a donation from Joyce behind the counter – thanks Joyce. Walked on into town where we hoped to find somewhere we could charge our phones. We met Liz who suggested The Bedford Hotel just up the road. We ordered a pot of tea for two and Lyn showed us where we could plug in our phones – thanks Lyn.

We had a lovely long rest as we waited for our phones to charge up. Had a pot of coffee and toasted teacakes too! Said our goodbyes to The Bedford Hotel and walked over to take a look around the parish church. Again, worth a visit.

Went into yet another Spar shop to buy provisions for our next few days and someone told us where we could get a gas bottle from. I waited in the church while Dave went to find the shop. He didn’t find that one but found Kountry Kit – The Outdoor Shop where James McDowa─║l was very helpful and gave us a gas bottle and also good directions to the campsite – thanks James.
Walked up ” Down Road ” till we reached the top of the hill and would you believe it, we found a bench!

Walked across the golf course. I had a go at apple golf!

Lovely walk across the golf course and common. We got to the campsite around 4pm. Dave and Diane at Higher Longford campsite made us very welcome and found us a pitch for the night. They gave us some eggs for supper too – thanks Dave and Diane. .
