Frosty start this morning. Beautiful morning though.
The path was very uneven with loose stones making the descent very slow. The rough road led down to the hydroelectric works near Kinlochleven then easy walking along a footpath into the towm itself where we stopped off at the Tailrace Inn for lunch. I used the time to post yesterday’s blog and charge my phone too. We met a young man, Andrew and his dog Rocco. He was very helpful giving us directions to the local shop – thanks. Some other people were also having lunch at the pub – Willem and Joelin are also walking the WHW. They are experienced long distance walkers and wild campers and we enjoyed chatting about our walks and swapped emails etc.
We left Kinlochleven around 4.30 p.m. and walked along the road for a while then turned right onto a path leading uphill. Fairly steep in places so took us a while! Willem and Joelin and two others passed us – their legs are younger than ours!
It was by a stream so we could get water and by what appeared to be the only tree in the valley – it was a holly. Warm and sunny evening but got cold quickly after the sun sank behind the mountains. Lovely evening – full moon and clear skies.
