Day 9 – Day off!

Very wet last night and blowing a gale. Thanks to our Vango tent all remained dry and secure. Decided that, as yesterday’s walk was longer than planned and I also need a decent waterproof jacket, we would stay at Mena Campsite for one more night.

Ian, the owner said we could bed down in the games room if we wished as it would be dry and out of the wind. Of course we accepted his kind offer.  Bodmin was just a bus ride away so we walked down to Lanivet. We had about 40 mins to spare before the bus was due so we took a look around the church in Lanivet.

The bus arrived on time and it was just a short journey to Bodmin.

We walked down the main street and into Millets where I was able to get good advice on the jacket I needed. A big thank you to Chris and manageress Sue who were both very helpful. I now have a jacket that should keep me dry.
As we meet folk who take an interest in what we are up to we give them a printed note that has our details. We are running out so we needed some more printing. Jackie in Bricknells Stationary printed some more for us at no charge. Thanks Jackie. We bought some fruit for lunch and ate it in the porch of Bodmin church. The door was locked so we were unable to go in. Bought some food for supper then made our way back to the bus stop. We got back to the campsite around 4.30 and moved all our belongings into the games room where we spent a great evening eating mushroom curry cooked by Dave with eggs given to us by the owners (thanks Ian and Sue) and drinking red wine. We also bought a spelt loaf from Warren’s in Bodmin which was delicious – thanks Donna. How lucky are we? We can recommend Mena Campsite. Friendly and welcoming and a lovely place to stay a while.

  1. I should think you deserve a day off after your longer than usual trek yesterday. Let’s hope your new jacket keeps the water out. If I was still drinking I would raise a glass to you both. But…. Here’s a. Illy cheers!

  2. My wife and I are following your progress with interest, we were thinking about you in the tent last night, and pleased that you have somewhere more sheltered tonight. Keep going
