Day 3 – Boslow Farm to Embla – 11.6 miles

Very windy last night but had stopped by the time we got up at 6.45.

Misty start to the day. Followed moorland tracks heading east. Lots of rain last night so wet and muddy underfoot. The area is covered in ancient sites. Went to Men an Tol and just had to do the obvious!

Apparently if you climb through seven times you get pregnant  – we only did it once so we’re safe!  Anyway we carried  on feeling “refreshed” along more wet, muddy tracks. Despite the heavy going we found the atmosphere to be calming and peaceful. Heard lots of curlews and skylarks. Didn’t meet anyone else but then, how many other crazy people would be walking up here in January? Finally got onto country lanes again and, as we had walked 10 miles we started to look for somewhere to camp for the night. We met a lovely lady who was out walking her dogs. She offered us a pitch for the night so of course we said “Yes please!” To cut a long journey short, we are sleeping in their spacious workshop overnight. Not only that but Jackie and Mike invited us to share their evening meal. Yet another great day – will it last? Who knows?
