Day 24

Up early and away by 7.30. Had a lovely nights sleep. Carried on walking along the canal. The surface is well maintained so good walking underfoot.

Met the first Sunday cyclist at 8 and soon after the dog walkers. Loved the getup of some of the runners. We met the sound of the M5 before we could see it. This was where we left the canal and joined the river Perrott for a bit. Had to cross over it via a footbridge attached to the rusting mainline railway bridge!

An easy level walk to Chedzoy. Met Paul and Karen Dunbill. They took one of our fliers. Onward across the Somerset levels heading for a ridge of higher ground in the distance.

Arrived at the Olive Mill gastro pub and had a cider and beer. Also a basket of bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Yum.
Maria asked on our behalf if anyone new where we could camp. Thanks Wes for recommending one at Stawell. Thanks Maria and Wes.

So we camped at “The Hideout” Thanks Jackie and Glyn for letting us stay at such short notice.
Delicious meal of curried onion chicken and mushroom pasta.

  1. Hi Dave & Dot, I am so enjoying reading your blog. It was a beautiful day when we met you walking towards Chedzoy with our trailer loaded with pallets to cut and burn to keep us warm. Then to read that you stayed in your tent overnight brrrr. only 2 miles from our home. Stay safe, stay healthy and enjoy your journey. With love and warmth in your hearts and on your faces xx
