Day 8 – Formby Point to near Clitheroe – 52 miles

Friday 14th April 2017 – total 573 miles.
A leisurely start to our day today. Toast and honey for breakfast then we put our walking boots on and went for a walk along the beach. It was quite breezy and chilly too as we walked for an hour then turned round and walked back.

Despite the wind and occasional misty rain we saw a good number of people. Some walking their dogs, others running, and some braving the cooler weather with their children building sandcastles!
Back to the van for lunch – toasted cheese sandwich and cuppa soup. Then we headed towards Southport and then on towards Preston.

We plan to meet up with our friends Ivan and Sarah in Whalley tomorrow morning.
We stopped for a break at the Bay Horse pub in Osbaldeston.

A lovely pub, busy but very friendly. We had our usual pot of tea for two then we were tempted by the menu and ordered some garlic ciabatta with cheese. It came with a small dressed salad  and was delicious.

We drove on for a few miles more and found a lay-by on a quiet road to stay overnight.
